Guppy- Cobra Assorted

$5.00

Cobra guppies are a selective breeding variety of the common guppy, characterized by a vibrant "cobra" pattern of rosettes and vertical bars on their bodies and fins. Males are more colorful with larger, flowing fins compared to the more subdued females. These are peaceful, active, and hardy freshwater fish, making them suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists, and are a good choice for community tanks with similar-tempered fish.

Appearance

  • Pattern: The signature feature is a "cobra" pattern of rosettes and vertical bars, which can appear in a variety of colors like green, yellow, blue, and red.

  • Males: Exhibit more vibrant colors and have long, flowing dorsal and tail fins.

  • Females: Are more subdued in color and have smaller, rounder tails.

  • Size: Typically grow to about 1.5 to 2.5 inches.

Care and temperament

  • Temperament: Peaceful and social, making them ideal for community aquariums.

  • Tankmates: Should be housed with other small, non-aggressive fish and are safe with larger, peaceful invertebrates. Avoid fin-nipping species.

  • Diet: Omnivores that require a varied diet including high-quality flake foods, micro-pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms.

  • Tank: A minimum tank size of 10 gallons is recommended. They appreciate both plants and open swimming space.

  • Water: They are hardy but thrive in clean, well-maintained water with stable parameters, and a lid is recommended as they can jump.

  • Breeding: They are livebearers and are relatively easy to breed. Providing floating plants and a breeding box can help protect the fry.
